While we may not be able to gather for the Summit this summer, that doesn't mean we can't get together to discuss important issues in our field.

USCCE Virtual Engagement Events

In April and May, the USCCE is hosting a series of free member only virtual Engagement Events to provide professionals in coach education and coach development opportuntities to discuss common challenges and strategies for providing quality educational support to sport coaching professionals.

The Future of Coach Education and Coach Development

The USCCE Virtual Summit

June 1, 2, & 3, 2020

  • The Virtual Summit will include 3 hour interactive program each day from 11am to 3:15pm (ET) on Monday June 1st, Tuesday June 2nd and Wednesday June 3rd with three different virtual events each day.   

  • The 75 minute sessions will start at 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm each day (see the full schedule below)

  • Program events will provide opportunities for participant engagement with speakers and other participants through Zoom chats and breakout rooms.

  • Register for the full 3 day event or for an individual day.

  • Event receipt will be sent automatically after registration. Please check spam and clutter folders.

  • Zoom meeting codes will be sent to registered participants the week prior to the Virtual Summit.

                            Member Registration - $30 per day and $75 for the full event (discount code was sent by email)

                            Non-member Registration - $50  per day and $120 for the full event.

Monday June 1

11am to 12:15pm ET

A day in the life:

What is a CD and what do we do?

This session will introduce the continuum of the Coach Developer role across sport contexts and levels.  Participant engagement in exploring job duties and experiences as coach developers will be encouraged through small group breakout opportunities.

12:30-1:45pm ET

Curricular models as a foundation for coach development programs

This session will explore the structure and uses of curricular models in NGB, Higher Education, and Multisport programs. One presenter from each arena will provide a brief summary of their curricular model and discuss its development. Breakout rooms will be used for Q&A.

2-3:15pm ET

Supporting coach well-being through coaching education and coach development

This session will identify and discuss strategies to help combat and support the challenges that coaches face to maintain their own physical and mental health, and well-being during a period of isolation from their players and coaches. Topics such as family conflict, poor nutrition, sleep deprivation, social alienation, issues utilizing technology, and other factors that can cause stress and anxiety with coaches will be discussed.

Tuesday June 2

11am to 12:15pm ET

Exploring the intersection between ADM and CE

This session will explore strategies and approaches for the alignment of long term athlete development models and coach education programs. Breakout rooms will be used to explore application in different sport contexts.

12:30-1:45pm ET

Evolving systems: Implementing change in complex environments

This session will explore the structure and uses of curricular models in NGB, Higher Education, and Multisport programs. One presenter from each arena will provide a brief summary of their curricular model and discuss its development. Breakout rooms will be used for Q&A.

2-3:15pm ET

How COVID might change coaching education and coach development

This session will begin with a panel to explore the experiences of Coach Developers through COVID and to discuss the adaptation and adjustments that may be necessary in coach education and development in the future. Breakout rooms will be used to enable sports organisations and professionals to explore how best to navigate to the new  normal of coach education and coach development.

Wednesday June 3

11am to 12:15pm ET

Essential initiatives and movement forward

This session will highlight the role of coaching education and coach developers across all contexts in the future of youth sport, with a particular emphasis on essential documents such as Healthy People 2030 and the National Youth Sport Strategy.

12:30-1:45pm ET

Maximizing Partnerships for Quality Coach Education and Coach Development

This session will take a 5 in 5 approach with representatives from coach development organizations describing their CE resources and ways they might partner with other organizations. A rapid fire approach, each person will cover 5 slides in 5 minutes to share their information.

2-3:15pm ET

Exploring blended learning in providing coach education and development

This session will focus on learning program design, and will explore different strategies, options, resources and tools that can be used to create a high quality blended learning program.
